I have long battled a weight problem (maxed out at 256 pounds), and took up body building about 3 years ago to help keep myself "on the straight and narrow" and keep the weight off. During that time, I have learned so much about my body and how it works best!
While I have used varied methods, I have had some of the best results using the principles of Tom Venuto's 'Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle' program. I would love to hear from any one else who is using or has used the program with either good or bad results.
I enjoy the way that being healthy and in control of myself makes me feel, and love to help other motivated people get into better shape by taking contol of what they are putting into and what they are doing with (and to...) their bodies.
Goals:
I would like to be able to maintain a more consistent weight all year round, rather than dieting right down to nothing during contest prep season and then gaining too much body fat in the off season. I would like to maintain around 135 or 140 pounds and 15% body fat in the off season. According to my calculations, this is achievable, healthy and realistic.
All that to say that I would like to place much better in my classes at the shows. I am currently on stage as a heavyweight (over 125 lb). What seems to be happening is that I have been gaining too much BF in the off season and can't lean out enough in the contest season to be a real contender, even tho' everyone (my trainers included) tell me that I have a lot of muscle.
So, there's my goals... to stay leaner in the off season so that I can come in lean enough to do well in my class at the shows.
Interests:
Bodybuilding (of course!), horses (love em', wish I had one...), researching nutrition and workout items.

Hi Driven! Just a thought.......maybe the reason you have such a hard time keeping lean in the off season is because of your previous weight struggles. You know that your body does not get rid of fat cells once you have them, they simply shrink. For those of us, like myself, who have once been overweight, it makes is harder for us maintain leannes because it is so much easier for our fat cells to "fill up". For those who have never had weight issues there isn't a problem because they don't have an excess of fat cells to start with. Definitely not saying it's impossible to keep lean, it's just a lot harder to maintain because we're constantly trying to keep those fat cells shrinking. Keep it up! You look phenomenal! It's so worth the fight, huh?
