My story- long but interesting...hoepfully.
Jul 20, 2008

I have been overweight for a long time.  When I was very young, I loved peas and applesauce and many veggies/fruits, but as I got older, I liked less and less of them.  My eating habits started to turn to s*** for lack of a better word.  I would and still do eat lots of carbs, the wrong fats, and not near enough protein and possibly fiber and all that other good stuff.

As I got older, into middle school and high school...if I was around snack foods, I would eat them and as much as I could get.  Especially when people weren't around I would eat unhealthy snack foods in copious amounts...chips (my favorite!), ice cream, left over pizza and other easy and fatty foods.

When food was in access, I would eat lots of it, and not worry about serving size, but just eat until I was comfortable with how much I ate, even if it meant wanting to puke because I ate so much.

When I started to drive and use my own car and/or go to work, I would eat a lot of fast food because I could.  I would get a lot of McDonalds and I would get a lot of Subway.  Subway seems healthy enough, but a foot long BMT with ranch and honey mustard and no veggies with chips?  I would get that after work or after choir practice.  It started going to 1 time or even two times a week.  I wonder now how much weight I have gained from all the closet eating alone, but I am afraid of knowing the real amount.

I had been motivated a couple of times to lose weight after looking at magazines of healthy girls (not skinnnnny models) and going to Europe or something, but it didn't stick.  Then, this summer I realized that it is my senior year!  I want to look good!  Plus, I want to go to prom and get an expensive and pretty dress.  I don't want to have to order a special size in my 4th choice dress and not have it look good.  I want to be a healthy, thin person.

I have used a celeb diet a couple of times, but gained the weight back super quick.  Of course, as quickly as you lose weight, you can gain it back, which is what happened.  Now, I am really determined.  I can still eat everything I eat now, but limit how much I eat.  Just have 1 slice or 2 slices of pizza instead of 3-5 and not finish it later.  Eat breakfast instead of skipping it, and make sure I eat well throughout the day.  Eat good and feel good.  Splurge on one meal a week.

I started walking almost 1.5 hours a day, but it won't tone me and it gets boring.  Plus, that is a long time per day that I don't always have. So I found a GREAT DVD by a company called THE FIRM.  I love the DVD.  It is motivational and I can tell all the moves are really working me.

My vow to myself to eat sensibly during the week.  Eat breakfast, small snacks, and lunch and dinner.  Not snack after dinner.  Splurge on one meal a week.  Workout 5-6 days a week with my FIRM DVD's, and twice a day when I can.  I know that I can do this, and the results will make me over.
I started a few weeks, and have lost a bit of weight!

Hey there! I just read your story and I just wanted to say it's encouraging and you can totally do it! When I was younger, I was definitely a lot heavier than I am now, but making the right eating choices like what you are doing will make a big difference in the long run! I've heard that losing weight is like 90% diet and how you eat it. Anyway the thing that caught my eye was the Firm videos, I absolutely love those, they really do work and is good if you have a crazy schedule! Anyways just take it one day at a time and you can totally do it! :)
