You need 1 to 1.5 grams of protein for each lb of lean body mass to grow muscle. To find your protein requirements multiply your body weight by 1. Thus for me between 150 and 200 grams of protein per day. Keep in mind primary goal is fat loss. so my diet has be curtailed to about 1000 cals per day. so I am at the lower end thus 1gram per lean body mass.
Now howabout those carbs? Well the issue is based on what you are consuming daily. Never give em up or you can never grow muscle.
To calculate your needs try this!
Maintain a true eating log with FITNRG for 7 days then divide total calories by 7 and you have daily calorie req.
For me as I said I consume about 1000 calories daily so here is the calculation
150 grams of protein x 4cal per gram = 600 calories from protein.
of the 400 calories that remain about 80% can be carbs 320 calories
80 calories from fat
60% 32% 8% You will lose weight that will be mostly fat and will gain abit of lean muscle mass.
Now here is the secret. Grow BIG Fast by increasing caloric intact by 20% for me that goes to 1200 calories
Maintain the ratio except increase protein by 5 % and decrease carbs by 5%
So beginning today I am trying to really follow 65 25 10 based on 1200 calories daily.
about 680cal from protein 400 cal from carbs and 120 cal from fat.
